Nickelodeon Writer Disney TV Writing Program MFA Screenwriting Professor at Pepperdine

Adrian Viña was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas. A storyteller at heart, he grew up immersed in drama and film before studying at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.

After moving to Los Angeles, his career took off when he optioned his script SUCKERS to Alcon Entertainment — later produced by Nickelodeon as the hit Halloween movie LIAR, LIAR VAMPIRE (2015). He went on to write BLURT! for Nickelodeon and COP AND A HALF: NEW RECRUIT starring Lou Diamond Phillips.

Adrian was selected for the prestigious Disney Television Writing Program (2020–2021). He holds an MFA in Screenwriting from California State University, Northridge, where he has also taught. He currently teaches screenwriting at Pepperdine University.

Teaches screenwriting courses at Pepperdine, bringing real-world Hollywood experience into the classroom.

Teaches screenwriting at CSUN, where he also earned his Master of Fine Arts in Screenwriting.

Participated in one of Hollywood's most prestigious diversity writing programs, developing original television content under the mentorship of top Disney executives.

Early Career — SMU & Los Angeles

Studied film at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. After graduating, moved to Los Angeles and worked in various industry positions, including at a literary management company where his career took off.
